  4. LOG-FILES 
    At every access to a MS-Control website, usage data are transmitted through the respective Internet browser and stored in log files, the so-called server log files. The records stored in this case contain the following data: date and time of the retrieval, name of the accessed page, IP address, referrer URL (the previously visited page), the amount of data transferred, and browser type / version. We are evaluating these log file records to further enhance and make our offerings more user-friendly, to find and fix bugs faster, and to control server capacity. At the same time we use the log file records for system security reasons to defend against attacks, e.g. in the context of so-called distributed-denial-of-service attacks, which aim to block access to our pages by overloading requests. We save log files for 1 month.
